My husband and I recently returned from a cruise to the Southern Caribbean where we visited many beautiful islands. My favorite stop was St. Thomas where we visited with friends and enjoyed the spectacular views. Hummingbirds were buzzing around our friend's home that overlooked the crystal waters. Iguanas roamed wild. I only wish I had taken my good camera with me for the trip. I opted for my point and shoot as I was afraid to expose my DSLR to the elements and beach sand. My DSLR will be going with me the next time. I have posted just a few of the photos from our trip.

The weather was not optimal for photographing wildlife this past Sunday. Overcast and drizzling rain. There were not many large birds at Emeralda but we saw some pretty smaller birds. I came across this Boat Tailed Gackle. It was my first experience seeing one of these birds in my lifetime. It was such a pretty bird and very vocal.

I currently have sprained foot and thought my odds of getting to take wildlife photographs this weekend would be pretty much a ZERO. Then my husband discovered Emeralda Marsh Conservatory in Lake County, Florida. They happened to have a driving trail that luckily for me was open today (it's seasonal), where we could drive through the marsh on a one-way road built to run right through the marsh. There was an abundance of wildlife and the area is magnificant. I have posted just a few of the over 400 photos I took today on my website. No doubt I will be back there again one day. If you are in the Central Florida area on a good weather day, I highly recommend you see this wonderful natural habitat.
